Dr. Emmanuel Stratakis

Dr. Emmanuel Stratakis (CEO) is a Research Director at FORTH/IESL and founder and head of the “Ultrafast Laser Micro- and Nano- processing” lab. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Crete. In 2006 and 2008 he was appointed as a visiting Researcher at the Dept. of Mechanical Eng. of the Univ. of California, Berkeley. His research focus is in the field of laser-based biomimetic engineering of materials for advanced optoelectronic and biomedical applications. He has published more than 250 scientific articles, patents and book chapters and he has been granted and coordinated many National and EU projects. Since 2015, he is the Director of the Nanoscience Facility of FORTH, part of the NFFA-Europe EU Infrastructure, where he is a member of the General Assembly. He is a National Expert in the High-Level Group of EU on Nanotechnologies, Advanced materials, Biotechnology, Advanced Manufacturing and Processing
